Morning Micro Habits to Boost Emotional Energy

Do you find yourself waking up, grabbing your phone while still in bed, and scrolling through the news?

DON'T.

I often make that mistake, and this morning, while waiting for my alarm to go off, I read about the Blood Scandal in the UK, where the NHS tragically gave contaminated blood from HIV-infected prisoners to children in need. And let's not even start on the environmental disaster at Lake Windermere, where raw sewage was pumped into one of the most beautiful lakes in the UK for ten hours.

Within three minutes, I felt extremely sad and angry.

Start Your Day Differently

Instead, try this: when you wake up, slowly stretch your body, yawn, and perhaps set your alarm to a pleasant ringtone. I used to have Michael Bublé's "Birds flying high, you know how I feel..." It always puts me in a good mood.

The Golden Hour of the Day

The golden hour of the day—the hour you wake up—is crucial for us empaths, as it sets the tone for our entire day. So, make it count.

Morning Practices to Boost Your Mood

Here are some things to do instead of watching crime news on your phone:

  1. Quick Body Scan (1 minute): While still lying in bed, feel your feet, ankles, and legs, and work your way up to your head on the pillow.

  2. Drink Water: Have a glass of water next to your bed and drink it all in one go. Our bodies need water to recover from eight hours of rest.

  3. Stretch and Practice Gratitude: Think of three things you are grateful for. While anger is a low vibrational energy, gratitude is one of the highest.

  4. Send Positive Energy: Send love to your office, appreciate having a job that pays the bills, and send good vibes to your meetings and commutes. All will be well.
